Ocean World of Sound in Maldives!
Three members of our Mexico team are currently in the Maldives, sharing our World of Sound approach of listening to coral reefs!

Coral reefs are critical to Maldives’ economy and coastal resiliency. The Kaafu atoll Rasfari
Reef was significantly damaged when a cargo ship ran aground the reef in 2021. Coral
restoration efforts in the region will require enhanced data collection to monitor progress,
evaluate options, and measure success.
Made possible by World Bank funding, our project is funded and hosted by the Maldives federal government. The goal of the project is to leverage Passive Acoustic Monitoring to inform coral restoration efforts at Rasfari Reef by the Maldives Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), by
● Establishing a pilot baseline passive acoustic monitoring program.
● Building local capacity for ongoing use of passive acoustic monitoring for coral reef
restoration and coral reef health monitoring.

Stay tuned for more updates on the project!
