FLOW: a new sci-art collaboration

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been chosen as a composer for FLOW, a science–art collaboration that explores the Lech river, a tributary of the Danube.

“Past, present, and future flow together as artists transform field recordings, research and satellite images into a recomposed interpretation of the life of a river. The river’s story, reimagined in sound.”

This initiative is part of broader efforts to weave arts into scientific inquiry, supporting new sensory and emotional perspectives on environmental change and river systems. FLOW resonates deeply with me, and is a delightful extension to my work at the intersections of ocean science, acoustic ecology, community-based conservation, Human=Nature, Nature Music and creative practice. Over the coming months I’ll be working with the River Lech field recordings and research materials to develop my soundscape composition. I look forward to sharing more about my process and the composition as it evolves.

The final work will first be presented May 2026 at the European Geosciences Union conference in Vienna, with further installations to follow.

The project is a collaboration between the University of Padova and the University of Würzburg, with support from Cities and Memory.
