MARINE BIOACOUSTICS
- Learning about the ocean by listening to it: gathering bio data via passive acoustic monitoring, which is innovative in that it gathers data without interfering with the life of an organism
- Initiating passive acoustic monitoring of the Meso-American Reef
- Creating The Listener Project: underwater sculpture installation combining art, science, and conservation to record the birth of a new reef
OCEAN ENERGY
- Collaborating with U.S. Department of Energy to create new programs to develop renewable marine energy sources that can power ocean research devices
- Advising on concerns over noise generated by energy installations in the ocean
- Co-chairing ocean noise and marine life inter-agency task force
MUSIC AND COMPOSING
- Composing, performing, recording, and publishing original works for acoustic and electronic instruments and recorded soundscapes
